Over chit chat? Try the book club without books!

THIS WRITER’S LIFE: I was in Dymocks, Melb CBD, on Friday signing books when up popped an image of The Sunday Story Club on several large screens around the store. But look! The books now have an autographed edition sticker on the cover. That’s never happened to me before.

Big thanks to Dymocks and Zoe for all their enthusiasm. And if you can’t make it to Dymocks:

How You become the Stories You tell Yourself

The stories you tell yourself define you. But are they accurate? Could there be another version?

In The Sunday Story Club, we ask questions that sidestep the prepared narratives participants often use to explain their life experiences to themselves and others. In this way, you learn something new about yourself. You can find out how to run your own salon in the book.

You are not a sad face emoji!

We talk. We text. We email. We might even Tweet and post on Facebook and Instagram. But too often we are just skimming the surface of our lives.

There are many benefits to spending time reflecting on your life through a deeper conversation.

Here is our interview with Cassie McCullagh, ABC Sydney, about our book The Sunday Story Club.

We would love others to engage in a deeper conversation by running their own story clubs.

Stepping outside the Narrative YOU use to explain YOUR LIFE

THIS WRITER’S LIFE:  Co-author Doris & I outside the ABC studios Melb. Great interview with Cassie McCullagh, Sydney.

We had time explain that The Sunday Story Club uses quirky questions to step outside the prepared narratives you often use to explain your life experiences. In this way, we learn about ourselves and others. These questions are intriguing to all ages.

How E M Foster’s dystopian world became our reality!

THIS WRITER’S LIFE: In Foster’s 1909 novella, The Machine Stops, people communicate via glowing screens but live lonely, isolated lives. His dystopian world has become our reality. We wrote The Sunday Story Club as an antidote to screens.

The Book Ninjas Strike Again!

THIS WRITER’S LIFE: So the , who set books loose on Australian public transport for commuters to take, read & return, dropped The Sunday Story Club off at Kyneton Station, my home town! I wrote 3 books about growing up on the Police Station in Kyneton. That is amazing synergy!

Doris and I wrote THE SUNDAY STORY CLUB so others can discover the magic running their own salon. And the idea that a random commuter might stumble across this idea is heart-warming.
